I bind books and volunteer at the local library.

Rebinding
My goal with rebinding old books is to give them facelifts and prolong their lives. I use archival materials and make repairs with conservation in mind, but I certainly wouldn’t call myself a professional book restorer (at least not at this point). I research the worth of the books and don’t play with high-value collectibles, so let’s all breathe a sigh of relief.
Binding from Scratch
I fell in love with making books at college when I took a creative bookmaking class. I learned adhesive and non-adhesive binding techniques and have since learned case binding on my own. I like to play with both traditional and what I call “slapdash” materials.
The Library
I research the value of donated books for the library to sell! If a book is suspected to be valuable, I assess its condition and see what it’s currently selling for in the marketplace. I then document its details and set a price so it can be sold online. If you like books, it gets very interesting; if not, your eyes will almost immediately glaze over and I will graciously let you escape.
